If you haven’t had the pleasure of chatting with Jim Herbst yet, I sincerely apologize. Jim is an incredibly intelligent colleague, with a wealth of knowledge in a myriad of topics. One moment he is telling delightful stories about how he is creating his own wine label, and the next he is drawing a detailed diagram of the IT infrastructure of a Fortune 500 corporation.
Q: Tell me a little bit about you!
A: Not sure I know who I am. That’s a really deep question…. Here’s who I am.
(Jim dives into a story all about brushing his teeth, and has me laughing hysterically)
Q: How long have you worked with Summit?
A: 3 years, 1 month!
Q: Did you always imagine you would work in IT?
A: IT always found me. I used to work in IT for the healthcare industry. I resisted it for the longest time, but it always found me.
Q: What does your dream client look like?
A: Aerospace and defense clients have been my favorite. I love this country, I love the United States, and I love knowing that the hardware I provide is playing a part in protecting our country.
Q: What about outside of work?
A: You mean besides my kids and wife? I love fishing. In fact, there’s a lake just a few minutes away from our headquarters here. Sometimes I take my lunch to go fishing. We have caught 6 fish in one lunch break!
Q: It’s not surprising to me, but your clients love you. Why do you think that is?
A: I’m willing to work hard for their business. I do the hard work, not just when it’s convenient for me, but all the time.
